Child Play Therapy
Play therapy is a child-friendly method of interaction that allows children to express their feelings and experiences, as well as cope with trauma. Children often mimic and explore their world through play, so it’s logical that they frequently communicate through their play activities and drawings. Play therapists can work with children of any age. This therapeutic approach helps children deal with stress, anxiety, depression, and learning disabilities. It may also be utilized in schools or hospitals to assist students in coping with difficult situations, such as bullying or social isolation.

Play therapists often incorporate art, music, stories, and various toys into their sessions. However, play therapy is not merely about playing games or having fun. The therapist collaborates with the child or young person to help them explore their feelings about themselves and their lives in a safe environment where they can express themselves freely. Since children often lack the cognitive ability to articulate their feelings verbally, various play activities are employed to help them communicate their emotions in a manner that aligns with their level of understanding.

Throughout the sessions, the therapist focuses on gaining insight into the child’s perspective and worldview. A key aspect of the counseling process is strengthening the child's sense of self. While the counselor cannot change the child's circumstances, the aim is to empower the child to handle these situations more effectively.
