Career Counselling

Career counseling is a personalized service designed to assist individuals in making informed decisions about their career choices. Parents play an important role in supporting their child through this process, and it’s crucial to start early to alleviate any pressure on the child.

As a career counselor, I utilize psychometric tests to help the child make informed decisions and facilitate any necessary follow-up conversations. My evaluation process works as follows:

First, I assess the child in three different areas: personality, interests, and academic strengths. These tests last approximately four hours. Following the assessments, I conduct a 90-minute conversation with the child and at least one parent. My goal is to gather as much information as possible to help the child make an informed and responsible decision.

The results from the tests, along with potential occupations, are then presented to both the parents and the child. For Grade 11 students, we focus on various professions and what each entails, including the courses required to pursue a specific career. It’s also important to identify which institutions—such as universities, colleges, and universities of technology—offer those courses. For Grade 9 students, we concentrate on subject choices and what they will need to qualify for specific careers.
